Design of Pharmacies:
First, what makes a pharmacy unique is that the store space is divided into two different areas. In the industry, these are called the dispensary and retail areas. The dispensary area is that are where customers can personally buy their medication and have their prescriptions filled and in some cases the dispensary also works supplying hospitals and rest homes. The retail area, on the other hand, is that area where the pharmacy can sell other non-medicinal items, such as cosmetics, gifts, magazines and some services which in some cases have the potential to be more profitable than the dispensary itself.
Next, in designing the dispensary area, care should be given in making it appear immaculate, professional, sterile and clinical. The design should allow the area to be completely clean and partially visible at all times. This would help build credibility with your customers. More importantly, it would also help in containing the spread of any germs that your customers or employees may bring in.
There should also be a small consulting room where the pharmacist can give advice and sometimes an semi private alcove for Methadone dispensing . The entrance for the consulting room should be near the dispensing counter. The dispensing counter should have a commanding view of the whole pharmacy, so that the pharmacist can see when an employee or customer is experiencing a difficulty, and would benefit from his or her assistance.
Also, in the design of pharmacies, the retail area should have non-essential items placed in front of the store, and essential areas near the back. This is in order to make customers pass through the displays of non-essential items first, and be tempted to buy them, on the way to the essential items that he or she most likely came to the store for. Seasonal products and promotional items should also be taken into consideration.

Counters should also be designed to be wide enough to hold counter top displays, usually of impulse items. This will help draw attention to these items while customers are queuing at the cashier. But not too big to keep staff behind it …
Likewise, the design of pharmacies for the retail area should be attractive and pleasing to customers. The shelves should be modular and versatile, allowing for changes when you see fit. In addition, the fixtures should be high enough to allow many products to be displayed in a single space, but they should not be too high that they encourage shoplifting. Other security measures that you can adopt include the installation of mirrors in the corners of the retail area. You may also have security cameras installed.Good quality and strong materials will keep the pharmacy looking good for a long time and keep the maintenance costs under control.

At Base Design, we look after all aspects of your pharmacy project from special safes to drawers for jars….we know what we are doing

They say that in everything size matters. Let’s be real. It does matter. But when can you actually say that bigger or smaller is better? That is the trickier question. This is especially true with regards to opening up your own restaurant or shop. Everything would be affected by the size of your shop, from the shopfitting process to the number of customers and equipment that you can take in. With that said, it is a great thing that there are shopfitting companies such as Base Commercial Design that are going to help you evaluate what is the best size of facility that you are going to lease/buy for your establishment.

What are the factors wherein physical size can play a factor in your shop fitout considerations? First of all, what you’ll have to consider is how many customers are you realistically expecting by the time it is opened. If your business is a restaurant for instance, are you expecting to serve 10 people or 100 people at any given time? And if your business is a showroom, what are the sizes of equipment that you are selling? In addition, depending on the venue where you place your shop, are you expecting a large or small flow of people going in and out of your stall? Those are just some of the physical factors that you’ll have to think about as you envision your shop being completed.

Now, we are going to consider the factors how physical size is going to affect your business even before you break ground on opening day. Shopfitting costs are going to fluctuate depending on the size of your space. Leasing or buying a bigger space is of course going to be a more expensive endeavor, but when analyzed on a per square meter basis, this may not exactly be true, as some smaller spaces have a more expensive price of acquisition per square meter. Of course, when you are going to establish your shop on a bigger space, the cost of renovating is bigger as you are going to need more materials such as flooring, paint, lights, and everything else. On the other hand, shop fitout for a smaller establishment can end up being more expensive because of the relative concentration of fixtures.

Based on this article, you can conclude that the size of the place is going have an effect on your business from shopfitting and beyond. Regardless if you are thinking of settling to a small or large space, Base Commercial Design is going to help you get the job done right.
